This week’s Featured BossMama is: May Chan, Founder of Panda Cub Baby Wear LLC.
Learn more about May…
May, the founder of Panda Cub Baby Wear LLC, has always been passionate about fashion. However, after emigrating from China to California, she put her dreams on hold to raise her two children in Colorado.
May prioritized her children's needs over her own, pausing her fashion design career. She now feels a sense of pride in being able to pick back up where she left off, having achieved the most important goal of raising her children.
As her children are grown and the demands of motherhood have lessened, May can now balance her time between her retirement and her business. She is also able to pursue her other interests, such as traveling with her husband and spending time with her children.
However, May is also aware of the importance of maintaining a work-life balance. She carefully schedules her time to ensure enough time for her business and her personal life. She also makes sure to take time for herself to relax and recharge.
About Panda Cub Baby Wear LLC…
After retiring, May embarked on a new venture creating Chinese-inspired baby clothes. She uses Gerber brand onesies and transforms them into unique designs by adding ribbons, gold fabric, and traditional qipao-style buttons. She sews all of her designs herself in her smoke-free, pet-free, drug-free home environment.
May's business has been met with overwhelming success, reaching Star Seller status on Etsy after only three months of operation. She has received all 5-star reviews for her 65 sales to date.
One of May's biggest challenges has been sourcing lower-level supplies at a reasonable cost. She has also faced challenges in finalizing and changing the business and legal structure of her business. May started as an individual proprietorship, but after three months of solid sales, she has decided to transition to an LLC.
Despite the challenges she has faced, May is thrilled with the success of her business. She is passionate about creating unique and beautiful clothing for babies, and she is grateful for the support of her customers.
Her Next Milestone
May's goals for the next 3-6 months are to continue to grow her business and introduce new products.
